Final year of Machin portrait, the march of time made it necessary to alter the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in 1985.
Went looking in Australian Coin Review from that era to see what the coin collecting community was saying about the end of this portrait. Seems about this time there was a changing of the guard in the ACR staff and decimal issues very rarely got a look in.


Collectors can find good examples of these coins, try for ones from Mint sets but note that many from the sets can have ugly toning. A lot of lightly circulated coins are on offer, try to avoid these if you can.
