1989 was the first year that the kangaroo was introduced to the Perth Mint's gold coins and the same design was then used on all sizes, but continued to change annually.
The "P" mint mark is also incorporated into the Red Kangaroo design.
Only available as part of 2 & 4 coin sets when originally issued, these can sometimes be found individually.

All coins are legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and bear an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on the obverse .
