Perth Mint has issued Gold Proof 2 oz coins since 1991. The denomination of the first 2 oz coin was $500, in 1992 this was changed to $200 and stayed that way ever since. Only available in a "Jarrah casket with flocked Burgundy insert" with a Burgundy ribbon around the scrolled serial numbered certificate, these do not turn up very often at all.

This case is huge, the top is a solid slab nearly an inch thick, could possibly be used for a coffee table in the future. These coins are the only major legal tender, pure gold coins to change their design each year. This feature and their limited annual mintages give them potential for numismatic appreciation over time.
All coins are legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and bear an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination on the obverse.
