The coin guide as originally started by Dion H. Skinner in 1964. In addition to Australian coinage this also covers Tradesmens tokens and patterns with a few more errors and varieties covered than the Greg McDonald guide.
However the attention to decimal issues has been found wanting in a few cases ( There are mistakes in both guides)
The current edition is available from newsagents, book sellers and coin dealers. Older editions can be found at 2nd hand book stores, Ebay and coin dealers
The name is a play on the original editors last name, its actually Skinner spelt backwards

A more recent attempt to try and catalogue the huge amount of pre-decimal varieties that are out there. It does a very admirable jobs in its first incarnation.
There are a few mistakes and contentious issues but overall a good attempt at a mammoth task that can only lead to better things.

Another interesting guide with mainly historical interest , it not only covers Australian gold sovereigns but all sovereigns issued throughout the British Empire.
It also contains a handy little world gold coin list detailing purities, weights and gold content and a few other handy little tables.
Can sometimes be picked up from coin dealers.
